Local Business Owner – Peter F. Downing, CHMM – Named to NSBA Leadership Council
Hightstown, NJ – Peter F. Downing, CHMM, President of Environment & Safety Solutions, Inc., Hightstown, New Jersey was recently named to the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council. NSBA is the nation’s oldest small-business advocacy organization and operates on a staunchly nonpartisan basis. Mr. Downing, a recognized leader in the small-business community, joins the NSBA Leadership Council alongside other small-business advocates from across the country as they work to promote the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.
“As a small-business owner, I see the importance of being involved and active when it comes to laws and regulation,” stated Mr. Downing. “After serving with a number of groups representing businesses of all sizes, joining NSBA’s Leadership Council will enable me to focus on delivering the message of small-businesses directly to members of Congress.”
A chemist with over 35 years in the chemical industry as both a manufacturer and a consultant, Mr. Downing has built his reputation by working closely with trade associations and their member companies to try to establish common-sense laws and regulations related to environmental, health, safety, and security matters. He has worked with small- to mid-size locations of companies throughout the United States to help them implement regulations in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Mr. Downing joined the NSBA Leadership Council to support his efforts to tackle the many critical issues facing small business, including tax reform, regulatory restraint, health care costs, and how access to capital will impact small business. The NSBA Leadership Council is focused on providing valuable networking between small-business advocates from across the country while ensuring small business a seat at the table as Congress and regulators take up key small-business proposals.
